Shooting
Throughout a cadets career in the ATC, they are given the opportunity to 'Live' fire on supervised ranges. Some cadets go on to attain a high level of skill and may themselves become qualified coaches and weapons instructors. There are several qualifications that a cadet may achieve, such as ATC Marksman and RAF Marksman. In addition, they can attend competitions against other Suadrons, Wngs, Rgions and may even represent the Corps in target shooting.
There are two weapons that we use regularly.
L-98 Cadet GP rifle.
This is a General Purpose rifle based on the SA 80 assault rifle.
It fires one round at a time out of a magazine.

The No.8 .22 Bolt Action Rifle. This is a bolt action single shot rifle. It is used by cadets on a 25m range for and for initial weapons training. This is usually the first opportunity for cadets to experience live firing using small bore rifles.
All shooting activities carried out by cadets are supervised by properly qualified adult staff. Practices take place on official MOD ranges and cadets fire at fixed targets.
