Two new NCO's have recently been appointed at the Squadron.  Cadets Alex Jennings and Paul Davies have been promoted to Corporal.  Along with them, Sergeant Gavin Davies was promoted to Flight Sergeant.

Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Simon Povey commented that "the cadets have worked hard and deserve their new appointments.  However with their new rank also comes added responsibility so they will have a very sharp learning curve to contend with".

Expedition Training on Anglesey

On the weekend of 12/13 August 4 cadets from the Squadron along with 2 cadets from 1557 (Friars School) Squadron attended a training weekend at RAF Mona on Anglesey.  The weekend run by staff of both squadrons was intended to give the newer cadets some basic Navigation and Campcraft skills to ready them for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions later this year.  Some of the cadets have previously completed their Bronze Award and were brushing up on their skills ready for Silver expeditions.

Green Fingered cadets provide a Barrow Load of Support

Squadron personnel were recently called upon at the eleventh hour to provide support for a prestigious Gardening Show being held at the Royal International Pavilion, Llangollen.  The two-day event with exhibitors and visitors from across the UK and Europe was partly sponsored by Wilkinsons.   Along with cadets from 1251 (Berwyn) and 856 (Chirk) Squadrons, the cadets and staff ran the 'Plant Creche' and operated a 'Barrow Boy' service assisting exhibitors and shoppers transport purchases to their vehicles.  The event, organised by local Gardening expert and writer Stephen Green was a tremendous success and next years is expected to be even bigger.  Mr Green thanked the cadets for their support and commented that all feedback had been positive about the professional and courteous service provided by the cadets.
